Since returning from working in the UK for 8yrs and setting up my practice in Fourways in 1998, we have been serving the Fourways community out of our premises in Fourways Mall. We have had many successful and happy years there, and it is time now to launch a new phase of my career.
Our new practice at Cedar Tree office park (opposite Fourways Life Hospital) is an exciting project for us, as I have always wanted to design my own dental clinic. ‘My Dental Clinic’ is a reflection of who I am, and the type of dentistry I perform. While containing all the latest and best technology, the Clinic has a calming aura, helping people to feel comfortable and relaxed.
My Dental Philosophy:
Cost is an issue this day and age, but in my mind quality and accountability comes first.
Aesthetics is very important, and we are more than capable and have the necessary qualifications to fulfil these demands, but for me it goes beyond that. There is nothing more important than health and functionality, and I strive to correct these issues first.
I have sourced over many years a dedicated and professional group of specialists with whom I work, and who I regard as being at the top of their respective fields. We work closely with these practices to ensure our patients receive the best possible care available.
My own specialisation:
Having always had an interest in the difficult field of root canal therapy, I have recently completed my diploma in Endodontics at Pretoria University, which puts me in the unique position of being able to carry out endodontic / root canal therapies in house / and non vital bleaching (treating discoloured teeth as a result of trauma etc).
Personal:
When not practicing dentistry, I love nothing more than spending time with my family, and fitting in as much time on my mountain bike as possible. My two young children keep me on my toes, and certainly help me to relate to my many young patients.

OUR PRACTICE
Our new premises
Our new surgery at ‘My Dental Clinic’ is the first in South Africa to be purpose built for the Adec 12 O’clock system. This system not only affords optimal ergonomics for doctor and nurse, but as a result, perfect positioning and better quality of treatment and comfort for the patients. The new sleek slim line surgeries with very little exposed equipment, also look great, and does away with a lot of the phobias associated with traditional equipment on view for the nervous patients.
What does not change however, is the same trusted team of Dr Lombard and staff that has been serving the Fourways community for the last 18 years, providing the same consistently excellent service and quality that our patients have come to expect.
Fees, and terms of payment
Our treatment is based on your dental health needs and not on your medical aid coverage.
The Department of Health issues annually the NHRPL which medical schemes may use as a baseline for determining their benefits or options. Individual schemes may set benefits that may be higher or lower than the NHRPL, or place restrictions on benefits.
Our fees may be up to 3 x the NHRPL rate, but are in accordance with the Ethical Tariff as set by the Dental Association of SA (private rate) published in 2005 with added inflation.
It is important that you understand and consent to both the treatment plan and the estimated cost of treatment. Please feel free to request a quotation before undergoing extensive treatment.
Patients are encouraged to submit cost estimates to their schemes before proceeding with treatment so that they may budget accordingly.
Preventative Treatment
We are all concerned about the high cost of medical and dental treatment, I therefore urge you to be diligent with your 6 monthly check ups and oral hygiene appointments. The golden rule of prevention being cheaper than cure, is non-more valid than in dentistry.
Patients presenting themselves for their six monthly check-ups seldom develop emergencies which require extensive and costly treatment.
Infectious Diseases
We take all necessary precautions – at high financial cost – in order to protect you and your family against any form of infectious disease.
Appointments
We will be expanding our Hygiene facilities as well as the hours these services are offered, to assist families in scheduling their appointments to suit their busy schedules.
Our goal
We hope that ‘My Dental Clinic’ will provide a different dental experience for most, in so far as being a pleasant environmental experience as well as a positive treatment experience. We aim for our patients to feel as comfortable in our clinic as we do, and instil in them the confidence that we have the latest and most up to date equipment, sterilisation, safety procedures, and professional services available anywhere.
